Day 94- Having a family dinner

Arrrgh..I left my camera at my parents house so there may not be pics for a while..*Might be able to get my android to take them though*

Sorry I haven’t written since Friday but I have been making sure I do something Happy every day and not I can report back! :D

On Friday we were celebrating my parents Ruby Anniversary and so I made them and the rest of the motley crew a meal. My parents prefer this to eating out as it’s more chilled. My wee brother and his wife (Still feel weird about saying wife!) Manda were there and we brought Michael.

We had a really lovely and chilled time and it reminded me how nice it can be to spend time with Family and that it doesn’t always have to feel pressured or anxiety inducing.

Michael (Oh and someone else ..but I will mention him on day 94 :D ) was the star attraction. He did impressions and was a one boy charade machine!! He had loads of fun.

It was nice actually to just spend time with people who know you so well you can be totally yourself. If I’m honest I’m getting to the point in my life where I am beginning to be myself with most people I meet.

I have friends that I feel are extended family too. I just think its nice to be around people who know you sometimes. I have a habit of being a bit of a hermit and don’t see my friends as often as I would like and in the past they have pretty much had to come to me because of my agoraphobia. This is something I want to change.

I would like to hang out with my brother more too. When I lived near we would hang out quite a bit and get some beers and pizza and play The X-box. I’m more into wine now but It would be nice to go hang out with them anyway. :D It’s weird because I have hardly spent any time with Manda his wife at all. We did all go on holiday together a couple of years ago right enough so we pretty much got to know the bones of each other then.

Anyway, I was happy to spend time with My family (I include wee Michael in that category now too). If you can’t stand your family then I think friends make good substitute families. The term ‘Family’ has changed so much over the past 20 or 30 years so family doesn’t always have to be your blood relatives. I just think basically it is the people who will love you more or less unconditionally and who you can be totally yourself around and that is what they love about you…
I also add my Cat into that category.. (Hmm that was almost a pun!)

xxLisa
